Waypoint Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 6, 2026
Waypoint is designed as a local-first wayfinding app. It does not have developer accounts, ads, analytics, tracking, or a developer-operated app backend.
Location and heading
Waypoint uses your device's location and compass heading to calculate bearings, distances, map positions, waypoint direction, Live Activity status, and the AR waypoint overlay. This processing happens on device. Waypoint does not upload your location or heading to the developer.
Camera and AR preview
The AR view uses the camera for a live preview so waypoints can be shown over the scene in front of you. Waypoint does not record camera video, take photos, or upload camera content.
Local data and widgets
Your waypoints, settings, and destination history are stored on your device. Waypoint may also write the small amount of shared App Group data needed for widgets and Live Activities to show current waypoint or compass information.
iCloud sync
Waypoint can sync waypoint data through Apple's private iCloud CloudKit database for your Apple ID. Private CloudKit records are handled by Apple. The developer does not access, download, or retain those private records.
Waypoint export and import
If you export or import waypoint files, those files are handled locally by Waypoint and by the apps or storage locations you choose through iOS sharing and document features. Waypoint does not send exported or imported waypoint files to the developer.
Maps and directions
Waypoint uses Apple MapKit and Apple Maps features for map display, search, routing handoff, and related location functionality. Apple may process map and location requests under Apple's privacy terms. If you choose to open a destination in Google Maps, the selected destination is handed off to Google Maps or Google's website, and Google's terms and privacy policy apply.
What Waypoint does not collect
- No developer account or login data.
- No advertising data.
- No analytics events.
- No tracking data.
- No location, heading, camera, waypoint, settings, or history data sent to a developer app backend.
Support email
If you contact support, the developer receives the email address and information you choose to include in your message. Support emails are used only to respond to your request.
